San Jose Civic Receives Fresh New Face
Downtown’s intimate venue completes exterior painting project

San Jose, CA (October 28) — If you haven’t seen the new San Jose Civic in a while, you are in for a big surprise! The venue just received a fresh new face with the completion of its exterior paint project and the installation of multi-colored LED lighting, funded by the City of San Jose and Redevelopment Agency, respectively.

The paint job is part of a major renovation project revitalizing this historic city asset as a premier venue stop for artists offering a variety of entertainment for fans throughout the Bay Area. As part of an $11 million investment by the San Jose Redevelopment Agency, renovations began earlier this year and are set for substantial completion in 2010 and will wow fans and artists alike. The venue’s completed renovations include new interior and exterior paint, lighting, a refurbished hardwood floor, accessible loading dock, new concession stands and a $1 million state-of-the-art sound and video system. Some of the renovations currently underway include additional restrooms, new star dressing rooms, new seating and a new stage lighting system.

Since opening in 1936, the intimate San Jose Civic has hosted legendary artists from the Who, to Bob Dylan, to Barbra Streisand to the Rolling Stones, among others. This legacy continues with recent shows from Crosby Stills and Nash and Steely Dan, and upcoming performances by Dashboard Confessional with New Found Glory, Never Shout Never and Med & Dia (Nov 13), Jaguares (Nov 20), Willie Nelson (Dec 6) Michael McDonald’s This Christmas…An Evening of Holidays and Hits (Dec 12) and the Guy Fieri Road Show (Dec 16).
