Over 10,000 expected for Northern California’s largest anime convention
SAN JOSE, CA. - May 25, 2007— The San Jose Convention and Visitors Bureau and Team San Jose welcomes FanimeCon 2007 during Memorial Day weekend, May 25-28. FanimeCon is a lively mix of art, culture and live performances creating an opportunity for anime enthusiasts to network during the three-day event weekend.
“San Jose is proud to host FanimeCon 2007,” said Dan Fenton, CEO of the San Jose Convention and Visitors Bureau and CEO/Chairman of Team San Jose, “we welcome visitors to combine creativity, music, culture and art during their stay.”
Bringing sizzle to downtown San Jose, visitors to the conference will have an abundance of options for things to do and see as they choose between video screenings, panel discussions, an electronic gaming area, a 24 hour game arcade zone, over sixty vendors displaying anime-related materials, dances after dark, artist showcases, and many other demonstrations.
"San Jose is an excellent location for our conference; it is a community centered, family friendly city that offers many of the big city attractions without the additional stress," said Tomoko Shintani, President of Anime Resource Group (ARG), FanimeCon's presenting organization.
Anime is the Japanese word for animation. The artwork is represented by stylized, colorful, large-eyed characters portrayed in a variety of settings and story lines.
