San Jose Convention & Visitors Bureau adds former meeting planner, John Rubsamen, to team
SAN JOSE, CA. - September 21, 2006— The San Jose Convention & Visitors Bureau has appointed John Rubsamen as the new Senior National Sales Manager, responsible for national corporation trade shows and bringing in higher level tradeshows of notoriety.
Rubsamen was most recently the Director of Meetings for the Optical Society of America in Washington, DC, a large scientific non-profit association that executes multiple meetings and citywide conventions all over the world.
As a graduate from the University of Tampa, Rubsamen received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication. He began working in the meeting planning industry 10 years ago and worked as a convention manager with SmithBucklin Corporation for six years.
Rubsamen joined the SJCVB because of past experience. "I previously booked and managed meetings in San Jose and my experience was so positive that I decided to take the opportunity to spread the word about what San Jose has to offer."
Rubsamen is a native of New York and grew up on the East Coast of Florida. In his free time Rubsamen likes to travel, and he also volunteers with industry and charity organizations. In 2004, Rubsamen ran the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC and is currently training for a local half marathon.
