Team San Jose Unveils Long Awaited Sign

SAN JOSE, CA. - July 27, 2006-Vice Mayor Cindy Chavez helped Dan Fenton, CEO and President of the San Jose Convention & Visitors Bureau and Team San Jose member, unveil their new jumbotron sign at the entrance of San Jose McEnery Convention Center facing San Carlos Street Monday afternoon. The sign, by manufacturer Barco, replaces the old sign that has served the Convention Center since 1989.

Chavez spoke about her support for Team San Jose and the efforts put into improving the sign. Fenton acknowledged all the city and board members who helped the new sign become a reality.

Members of Team San Jose's Board of Directors and the San Jose Convention & Visitors Bureau were also in attendance.

The City of San Jose funded the state of the art electronic sign that is 50 percent larger in size than the old sign.

The Barco sign includes capabilities to feature pictures, live feed, and graphics. This new sign will display upcoming events at the McEnery Convention Center, as well as events taking place in the surrounding cultural facilities.

The sign's live feed capabilities will go into affect this weekend to help display the San Jose Grand Prix as the cars fly down the city streets.
